Institute of Research into the Fundamental Laws of the Universe : The limit of man's knowledge in any subject possesses a high interest, which is perhaps increased by its close neighbourhood to the realms of imagination. Charles Darwin The Voyage of the Beagle

The Institut de Physique Théorique (IPhT) is a laboratory of fundamental research, located in Saclay, about 20 km south-west of Paris.

The research performed at the IPhT aims at better understanding the laws which govern our universe and its organisation. It encompasses most of the great subjects of modern theoretical physics

IRAMIS, "Saclay Institute of Matter and Radiation", gathers 8 Units or Laboratories with scientific research activities on Condensed Matter, Atoms and Molecules. Most units are associated with other partners : CNRS , École Polytechnique and ENSICAEN.
Life sciences division : The aim of CEA’s Life Sciences Division is to use spin-offs from nuclear science to advance technology for healthcare, and in particular to study the effects on living systems of radiation and toxins derived from nuclear energy use.

LIST, the Lab of applied research on software-intensive technologies

The LIST, which is based near Paris at Saclay and Fontenay-aux-Roses, is a key software systems and
technology research center working in three areas with vital societal and economic implications:

- Embedded systems (architecture and design of systems, methods and facilities for software and system dependability, and intelligent vision systems);

- Interactive systems (knowledge engineering, robotics, virtual reality and sensorial interfaces);

- Signal detection and processing (ionizing radiation metrology and instrumentation, optical fiber sensors and non-destructive testing).

The Nuclear Activities Direction of Saclay : The Nuclear Activities Direction of Saclay (DANS) DANS is belonging to CEA (Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique) and is a part of the Nuclear Energy Division (DEN) located in the Research Center of Saclay.

The core mission of the I²BM Institute is to deploy research programmes designed to:
• understand how the human brain works,
• develop diagnostic tools and innovative therapeutic approaches for treating neurodegenerative (Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, Alzheimer’s), cardiovascular and viral diseases, and cancers,
• to expand research into blood immunology,
• strengthen research partnerships with university centres in France and abroad,
• relay with business-based healthcare technology professionals, notably by providing research support for industry producers of imaging equipment and medicines.
Institute of biology technologies - Saclay (IBITEC-S) : iBiTec-S is a multidisciplinary institute of about fifty research groups that include biologists, biophysicists and chemists working on fundamental and applied research projects. Its mission is to associate together research around strategic themes for the CEA: energy, defense and security, information technology and global technologies for health.
